Why we take the boat out at 6 am
Cool air, still water and canal life you only see in the morning.
By mid-morning the big tour boats run, with wake and noise. Dawn belongs to the people who live on the canal.
Monks by boat
Some communities still see monks paddle for alms. We watch respectfully and never crowd them with cameras.
Morning light
Soft 7 am light makes the riverside temples their loveliest.
